How to save YouTube Shorts to iPhone Camera Roll
Downloading YouTube Shorts onto an iPhone used to require complex Siri Shortcuts, suspicious App Store apps, or screen recorders. With Deadloops, you can save crisp MP4 videos directly through Safari into your native iOS Photos app in seconds.
Copy the Short Link
Open the YouTube app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap the Share button on any public Short, then tap Copy Link to copy the URL to your clipboard.
Paste into Safari
Switch to Safari and paste the link into the box above. Tap Download Short to fetch available high-definition MP4 streams.
Save to Camera Roll
Tap Download Now. Safari saves the file into your Downloads list. Tap the share sheet icon and select Save Video to move it into your Photos app.
Safari Downloads Manager
How to move downloaded Shorts into your Photos App
By default, iOS stores files downloaded through Safari inside the Files > Downloads directory rather than your camera roll. To make the video appear in your regular Photos album alongside your camera recordings:
- Once the download completes, tap the Downloads icon (the blue downward arrow in the Safari address bar).
- Tap on the newly downloaded MP4 video to open the iOS media preview player.
- Tap the Share icon (square with an arrow pointing upward) in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down the action list and select Save Video.
- Open your iPhone Photos app — your YouTube Short is now saved locally in your Camera Roll and ready to watch offline, edit in CapCut/iMovie, or share.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions on iPhone Downloads
Does downloading YouTube Shorts on iPhone save with sound?
Yes. Deadloops preserves the full AAC stereo audio soundtrack synchronized with the MP4 video stream. Your saved Short will play with pristine audio clarity in the iOS Photos app.
Do I need to install an app from the App Store?
No. Deadloops runs 100% inside your Safari browser. You never have to install third-party applications, configure Siri Shortcuts, or jailbreak your iOS device.
Can I download YouTube Shorts in 1080p Full HD on iPhone?
Yes. When the creator uploaded the original Short in 1080p (1080x1920 vertical resolution), Deadloops delivers the highest available quality directly to your device.
Why did my Short download as a file instead of saving to Photos?
Apple’s iOS security sandbox places all web downloads into the Files app by default. Simply tap the file in Safari Downloads, tap the Share icon, and choose "Save Video" to immediately transfer it to your Photos library.
Can I download private or age-restricted YouTube Shorts?
No. Deadloops strictly respects platform security and privacy controls. Only public YouTube Shorts that you own or have permission to save can be processed.
